AROUND PIAA

Following are some "candid" shots from our 2013 Show! Looks like everybody was having a great time ... sampling the food ... looking at fantastic art ... and visiting with friends!

Lots of customers! Yeaaaa!

Do you think Fran is happy with her Blue Ribbon? Way to go, Fran!

Kristine looks pretty pleased too!!

And here we have two happy workers ... Dorayne and Eileen ... accepting more replacements! Sales are booming!

Yum ... yum. Lots of goodies to choose from!

OK ... We're ready to "run" some purchases to your car!

Wonder if she bought this one???
She is really studying it!

And here is Connie with her ribbon-winning painting!

UNUSUAL CLASS PROJECT!
Pictured below is an unusual project created by the Monday class taught by Ann McCarty Sickels. Each small painting was created by a different student, then all of the artists painted the flowers. Class member Deanna Berko assembled the piece with help from her husband ... talk about a "family effort." Great job! Just a sample of what our talented PIAA artists can do!!

Footnote Feb. 2013: This piece was donated as a second drawing item for the 2013 Show! Thank you to everyone who participated in creating this lovely work of art.

TUESDAY MORNING CLASS - PAINTING ON LOCATION
USEPPA ISLAND

In March, the students in Cyndi Egan's Tuesday morning class spent a delightful day
painting on location on beautiful Useppa Island.  They were also treated to lunch
and a tour of the island.

We can't wait to see the paintings that are created from this trip!!

MEL MEO --- 'HIGHWAYMAN STYLE WORKSHOP"
November 22, 2008

Once again, Mel Meo conducted a fun Saturday workshop for 16 of our members,
who were able to come away with a beautiful finished painting in just 3 hours!  We will
be offering another workshop in this style painting early in 2009.  Keep watching
for dates and times.

FAREWELL LUNCHEON FOR
LORRAINE KOETS

Lorraine Koets, who has been a teacher at PIAA for 27 years, is moving back north to be with her family.  Lorraine has been an inspiration to many students over the years, and we will miss her sweet smile and quiet ways.  We all wish her much luck and happiness in her new home.

Mel Meo - "Highwaymen" Style Workshop

Just look at what you can do in 3 HOURS with local artist, Mel Meo.
The group had an absolutely great time, went home with finished
paintings ... and are all begging for another workshop (which we
will have in Winter 2009)!!!

First, you take some "buckets" of paint ...

then Mel even prepares your
palette for you ...

Add some brushes .....

CULTURAL PARK THEATRE
PIAA  PORTRAIT SHOW
October 2007
Here are a few photos of  the paintings and the reception for the artists.  Cultural Park Theatre was very kind to allow us to have a portrait show and the idea was conceived as an added attraction for patrons of the production of Louise Wigglesworth's play, "Drawing the Human Form."  About 20 of our artists attended the play on Pine Island Night, and a great time was had by all!

Once again, PIAA can be proud of  our very talented member artists!   Thanks to all of you who participated, and special thanks to Uschi Lanier and Tony Fenner for gathering and hanging the paintings.

Alliance for the Arts Events

PIAA artists volunteer at the   Media Brunch and Walk Thru the Arts,  Oct. 18 and 20

PIAA was well represented at the Alliance for the Arts events on Wednesday, Oct. 18, and Saturday 20.   There were representatives from many local art and theatre companies,  weavers  and choral groups.  It provided a great venue for networking and we came away with contacts for upcoming events in which our PIAA artists may participate.    Information on opportunities for showing your work is available at the studio.

Great food, provided by Ft. Myers Festival of the Arts
