                                                           Jan Werdin

Jan has lived most of her life in Minnesota and has lived in Cape Coral since 1989. She is the mother of three children and grandmother of five. Her husband, Tom, is also an artist in pastels. She has always had an artistic drive and enjoyed creative projects since childhood. She had some courses in art and design in her early college years at the University of Wisconsin/Milwaukee, but marriage and family put that on hold until 1991 when she began taking watercolor classes. She has studied with local and many nationally known artists. She is a P1 member of the Florida Watercolor Society, the Pine Island Art Association, and Cape Coral Art League where she is the Art Show Coordinator, and a member of the Board of Directors. She has entered many exhibitions in the area and in Minnesota where her work has won awards and has been sold. Her work is for sale at WildChild Gallery in Matlacha, FL.

Artist’s statement:

“I am inspired by nature and the forms and color in it. The play of light can conjure up abstract themes in my work. There is a never-ending array of subjects and possibilities for the artist with paint, paper and brush. I plan to keep on painting until I run out of ideas or fun.”
